I’m making a change in how the Guest Book works.

Previously you could send me an email by filling out a form on this page and clicking “submit.” And the website then forwarded the message to an email address for me.

However, in the past months spammers have attached themselves to the forwarding code in my site, and when I look for messages from people who write to me, I become buried in advertisements for gambling, Viagra, phentermine (whatever that is), etc. It’s fairly discouraging.

So here’s how I’d like to do it, and see if things improve:

If you want to write me, just send me an email directly to the following address: cd7898999@aol.com

IMPORTANT: In the subject heading, please type in the topic you’re writing me about.

I’m interested in hearing your comments and thoughts. I have really appreciated hearing from so many of you, and have found what you’ve said to me encouraging and interesting, even when it’s brief.  Even the occasional disagreement has been okay.

If you’re a student and writing a paper on my work, feel free to write down a question or two and send them to me at the email address.  (Though please check the page “For Students – Frequently Asked Questions” first to see if that information already answers your questions.)

If you’re writing a paper and you send me a question or two, I do have one important request, please give me a DATE by which you must receive a response in order to do the paper.

And, finally, my schedule varies a lot – I have to stress that I can’t guarantee I’ll have the time to answer, though I’ll try to.  But please forgive me if you don’t get a response on time – it means I’m either out of town, or swamped with work, or involved in rehearsals, or something like that.  (If you want to be sure I have time to respond, you could try contacting me through Kenneth Ferrone, assistant to my agent Patrick Herold at International Creative Management, 40 West 57th Street, 16th floor, New York, NY 10019.
